History of the organization
Public Movement "Faith, Hope, Love" was created by an initiative group of psychologists, lawyers, health workers and volunteers in 1996. In the city of Odessa the implementation of the first pilot project not only in Ukraine but also in all CIS countries has begun, based on the Harm Reduction Strategy. March 26, 1997 the organization was officially registered in the Regional Department of Justice as a public organization. The main goal of the Movement is to protect the rights of socially maladjusted groups, HIV/AIDS prevention, laying the foundations of a healthy lifestyle, educational work with young people, the formation of their leadership qualities. In 1997 the work on the coverage of prevention activities for another key group - sex workers has began.
The main key groups with whom the organization works are - IDU, CSW, people who are in prison, street children, refugees and asylum seekers in Ukraine (Syria, Afghanistan, Africa), internally displaced people from war zones in Ukraine. Particular attention is paid to provide services to people living with HIV and their environment - a consulting, formation of commitment to the use of antiretroviral therapy, involvement of substitution therapy programs, assist in the treatment of opportunistic diseases. Gender-specific services have been introduced to the organization over 10 years ago.
Accent in the work of the organization is placed on preventive work with children and young people - children practicing risky behavior, children living in the streets, students of vocational school, technical schools, students, colleges and universities. To work with children and young people we are using interactive forms of seminars and trainings on the basis of the youth theater "Contact", the scenario is written by children, actors are children, too. Organization is a member of the regional and city Coordination Councils on Prevention of HIV/ AIDS/ drug addiction, tuberculosis and child neglect.
